Internship Opportunities

The North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory (NLCL) internship program allows rising collegiate and graduate students an opportunity to perform actual tasks routinely done at a forensic laboratory in the forensic biology, forensic toxicology, and drug chemistry sections.

An intern will select one discipline and then work on a project in that section but will have the opportunity to observe other sections.

The duration of the unpaid internship is 200-300 hours with a minimum of 20 hours per week being spent in the laboratory.

All interested applicants are encouraged to complete the internship application.

Upon receipt of the completed application by the NLCL, an interview will be scheduled before acceptance.

3.  Have insurance through his/her university or other means

DNA Intern - Spring 2019

This internship gave me a great insight into what actually takes place in the DNA section of a forensics lab. Not only was I conducting my own experiment but I also got the chance to watch other analysts work on real casework which was enjoyable.

Toxicology Summer Intern - 2020

“The experience and knowledge I gained during my time working with the toxicology team is something for which I will always be thankful. I was granted hands-on learning opportunities to complete my project, given chances to be a part of other ongoing experiments, and allowed to see the inner workings of how a forensic toxicology lab functions on a daily basis.”
